The Colorado-based defense firm raised massive Series D funding to accelerate production of autonomous orbital interceptors as geopolitical tensions rise in the Middle East and beyond.

As global energy markets reel from Iranian aggression in the Strait of Hormuz and domestic stability faces new scrutiny, the American defense industry is pivoting toward the next frontier of national security: space dominance. True Anomaly, a Centennial-based aerospace firm, announced the closure of a $650 million Series D funding round this week, signaling a massive private-sector bet on the necessity of orbital combat capabilities.

The funding round, co-led by Eclipse and Riot Ventures with participation from Paradigm, Atreides, and G Squared, brings the company’s total valuation to $2.2 billion. This influx of capital follows the company’s selection as one of 12 firms awarded a portion of the $3.2 billion Golden Dome contract for space-based interceptor (SBI) prototypes. Unlike many Silicon Valley startups that prioritize commercial dual-use technology, True Anomaly is explicitly focused on the hard-line requirements of space superiority.

CEO Even Rogers emphasized that the current industry bias toward dual-use platforms has left essential combat capabilities underserved. The company plans to use the capital to scale production of its Jackal autonomous orbital vehicle and Mosaic autonomy software. These systems are designed for rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), a critical capability for identifying and neutralizing threats to American satellite infrastructure. The firm aims to reach a production capacity of 50 Jackal units per year at its Colorado headquarters.

The timing of this expansion aligns with a period of heightened geopolitical volatility. While Brent crude futures climbed to $111 per barrel following reports of President Trump’s dissatisfaction with Iran’s recent peace proposal, the strategic importance of protecting American assets from orbital interference has never been clearer. True Anomaly is currently preparing for the Space Force’s VICTUS HAZE mission, a tactically responsive space demonstration scheduled for the next 18 months that will pair a Jackal vehicle with a Rocket Lab satellite for on-orbit operations.

With plans to expand its workforce to over 500 employees by the end of the year and a total of $1 billion raised since its 2022 founding, True Anomaly is positioning itself as a cornerstone of the Western defense industrial base. The company’s focus on space-based interceptors marks a shift toward proactive deterrence in the celestial domain. As the U.S. navigates a complex blockade of Iranian oil and internal administrative shifts following the exit of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, the move toward autonomous, space-based defense represents a principled commitment to maintaining the high ground in an increasingly contested domain.
