Despite the technical promise, the path to activation remains fraught with the conservative governance typical of the Bitcoin ecosystem. Galaxy Research notes that the failed 2022 “speedy trial” attempt for OP_CTV has instilled a sense of caution among Core maintainers. Any future soft fork is expected to follow a rigorous, Taproot-style signaling process with extended review windows to avoid the appearance of a rushed or centralized mandate. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have transitioned from a high-growth phase in April to a notable risk-off period. Data indicates a record 13-day outflow streak totaling approximately $4.4 billion by early June, with a single-day net outflow of $677 million recorded on June 25, 2026. Analysts attribute this shift to a broader capital rotation into semiconductor and AI equities, alongside geopolitical tensions that have dampened the appetite for digital assets.
