For citizens and developers relying on these services, this level of institutional lock-in signals that the tools of modern production are increasingly controlled by a narrow corridor of corporate interests. While the past 24 hours saw no new frontier model releases from dominant players like Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Cloud, the commoditization of intelligence continues at the margins. DeepSeek’s recent release of its V4-Flash model, priced at just pennies per million tokens, highlights a growing pressure on the pricing models of the established giants.
