Anthropic launches Claude Opus 5 to optimize token economics while OpenAI scales ChatGPT Health nationwide, signaling a shift toward specialized, high-stakes data integration and enterprise efficiency.

Anthropic led this transition with Claude Opus 5, a model designed to deliver the high-level reasoning of its top-tier Fable 5 predecessor at roughly half the operational cost. Opus 5 is now the default engine for Claude Max and Pro subscribers, maintaining a price point of $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. While Anthropic’s Mythos 5 remains restricted to vetted organizations due to cybersecurity profiles, the public release of Opus 5 offers a significant increase in marginal capability for enterprise users. Simultaneously, OpenAI completed the nationwide rollout of ChatGPT Health to all logged-in U.S. users aged 18 and older. This feature allows the AI to connect directly with Apple Health and supported medical record applications to provide personalized, record-grounded answers. The expansion comes at a tense moment for the company, following a lawsuit involving a near-fatal suggestion by a previous iteration. Despite these legal headwinds, OpenAI is pushing a tiered model strategy: free users interact with GPT-5.5 Instant, while paid subscribers utilize GPT-5.6 Sol, which reportedly scores 88.0% on completeness in internal benchmarks.

The open-weights sector is also seeing massive scale-ups. Moonshot AI is scheduled to release the full weights for Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion-parameter model, on July 27. However, independent audits by Artificial Analysis indicate that while K3 shows improved factual accuracy, its hallucination rate in confident answers has climbed to 51 percent. This highlights a growing tension between massive parameter counts and reliable outputs. Hosting such a model requires significant hardware, with practical self-hosting guidance targeting approximately 1.4 TB of VRAM.

In the infrastructure sector, Meshy secured a $400 million Series B round at a $1.5 billion valuation, marking a major investment in AI-driven 3D modeling. This influx of capital, alongside the massive $122 billion and $100 billion war chests recently raised by OpenAI and Anthropic, ensures the infrastructure for the Algorithmic State continues to expand. These developments occur against a backdrop of broader economic instability, as U.S. national average gasoline prices climbed above $4 per gallon following renewed naval blockades in the Strait of Hormuz.

As the Treasury Department reports approximately $1.5 billion deposited into new administration accounts, the intersection of data capitalism and national policy becomes increasingly clear.
